Abstract
Background. Two species previously unrecorded from the Aegean Sea, Nemichthys scolopaceus Richardson, 1848 and Benthocometes robustus (Goode et Bean, 1886), were captured during a bottom trawl off the Marmaris coasts (Turkey). These new records represent respectively the easternmost occurrence of N. scolopaceus and the second record of B. robustus from the eastern Mediterranean Basin.
